I don’t have the Stax SR-202 here to compare side by side, but from what I remember, the ESP-950 is quite faster and more transparent. It also is more forward sounding than the Stax SR-202, which should fit certain genres better. There is more midbass punch on the ESP-950, just enough to add a little kick, without turning into a hump in the frequency curve.
The ESP-950 has a really big potential. Rumor says that the ESP-950 is supposedly what an improved Sennheiser HE60 would be like! I am certain that the ESP-950, with some kickass electrostatic amplifier like the HeadAmp KGSS would really earn you a ticket into the high end league. To sweeten the deal even more, Koss throws in a no question asked lifetime warranty with the ESP-950!
Everyone should trade their Grados for these. *grin*
