Brise Audio YATONO Rh2+ Review

Sound

As I said in the intro, I certainly think that aftermarket cables make a difference one way or another. You can check Linus’ many reviews of cables for that. But it’s not always a positive difference. Some cables work well with your specific IEMs and some don’t. I’ll try to explain the Yatono Rh2+ and how it affects the sound.

What stroke me the most about the Yatono Rh2+ is the resolution. During my tests, each time I heard a very resolving, crisp, and dynamic sound with great energy and technicalities such as stereo imaging, bass texture, transparency, and balance. Of course, the technicality topic is directly proportional to your IEM’s capabilities, but the Yatono Rh2+ certainly scales your IEM to the next level when paired with a good source.

It’s simply an excellent cable with a neutral approach to improve resolution, speed, and pace. It is certainly one of the best cables that I’ve ever tested.

Bass

Just like the STR7 Ref, the Yatono Rh2+ provides a great sense of texture to the bass region through my listening sessions. It’s easily one of the best cables that you can have in terms of bass. The quality is sublime, the resolution and texture are extremely good, and the decay is great.

Especially the midbass section is very controlled, and it gives great punch and kick as well. The quantity is also slightly elevated with all the IEMs I’ve tried, but it doesn’t do that in a fun-oriented fashion. It just gives a beautiful bass response that doesn’t feel overpowering or deficient in any way. If you’re looking for a reference level cable that sounds excellent in the bass region, then the Brise Audio STR7-Ref is your choice.

Mids

In terms of character, I didn’t find any noticeable difference in mids in my trials. The difference however lies in technicalities, since the Yatono Rh2+ gives a better resolution and separation in this area. The vocals and the instruments are more dynamic and refined. They also have a better definition which I think is the most noticeable impact of this cable.

With the Yatono Rh2+, you simply have a better instrument and vocal performance. This is simply because they are defined better. With a generic cable, some instruments in the song are weaker such as the guitar, violin, sax, and the piano. When you use the Yatono Rh2+, they’re simply buffed with more definition and precision.

So overall all of the instrument and vocal sounds have more isolation from the other elements and that plays really well with many genres such as Jazz, Classic Rock, and Classical. So if you would like to have a better and sharper separation from your high-end IEMs, then the Yatono RH2+ can give you exactly that. I also find the tonality excellent with this cable, as the instruments sound very natural and lifelike. You have great texture and body with very organic tones.

Treble

Unlike the STR7 Ref., the Yatono Rh2+ elevates the treble a little bit. The treble, just like the mids, is better defined with a crispier and brighter approach. So it opens up the treble with more bite and precision. You have slightly better articulation and there’s more resolution in the upper treble area.

So I can say that it makes the highs more accentuated or apparent. But from the technical standpoint, you get more extension and articulation, and also a sharper separation. The level of detail is also excellent. The treble is also more energetic.

Technical Performance

The presentation slightly becomes narrower with the Yatono Rh2+ in terms of sound-stage performance. So the staging dimensions are slightly smaller. However, you get the absolute resolution with the ultimate level of definition and dynamic range. In fact, when I think about my experience with this cable, the keyword that would come to my mind is dynamism. The Yatono Rh2+ is indeed very energetic and dynamic. Everything is in such a good rhythm and you get great pace, rhythm, and timing (PRaT).

When it comes to definition though, this cable is something special. I mean, it makes you want to listen to more instruments, more vocals, and more cymbals. The speed and dynamism that this cable brings to the table are incredible. Everything sounds more resolved and transparent with the Yatono Rh2+. Tonality is on the spot, separation is sharper and precision is excellent. It gives you a sharper and more precise sound no matter what IEM you pair it with.

Conclusion

I absolutely loved the STR7 Ref., and I still do. Yet, the Yatono Rh2+ impressed me further, because I did not expect this kind of dynamic range, resolution, and definition. You also gain great technicalities like texture, timbre, energy, and separation. The cable is also built to last with fantastic attention to detail. The Japanese craftsmanship is really something else and the attention to detail in this cable’s structure is simply excellent.

Of course, the price is quite high for a cable. But we actually have options in the market with even higher price tags today. Of course, I haven’t listened to them all, but I’ve tried many. And based on my experience,  this is one of the best cables you can get. It has a fantastic build quality, a very thoughtful design with high-quality materials, and most importantly a great sound.

I certainly recommend the Brise Audio Yatono Rh2+, and for that reason, it just entered our Accessories Recommendations with its outstanding performance.

Very interesting. I wonder how it compares to PWAudio 1960s.
