About Cozoy Takt C

The Cozoy Takt C is a very portable DAC & Amplifier for mobile users out there who seek out for a better sound output. If you’re not satisfied with the sound of your portable laptop or smartphone. the Takt C can be a great solution for you.

The highlights of the Takt C are its DAC Chip (9018Q2C), CNC machined aluminum alloy, screw-less sleek design and gold plated connector parts. It also has ASIO driver support and the ability to resolve DSD files up to DSD384.

The device supports the USB Type C connection which becomes more and more popular and universal each day. It was perfect for me as I use an Android device and my mobile laptop also has a Type C socket for USB connection as well.

For Apple devices, there’s the Takt C102 model which has a lightning cable as standard. 

Design

Cozoy gives great importance to the design of their products and they always try to use the best materials for them. The Cozoy Takt C follows the brand’s design tradition and doesn’t bring and surprises. In fact, the design is basically identical to the Takt Pro and the original Takt model. After the first Takt, they pushed for a better internal design and components so the basic looks doesn’t really change.

The design overall is really nice and the device looks very small, compact, stylish and premium. The aluminum feels very good and leaves a great impression in one’s hand. I don’t have any experience with the previous Takt devices, but I’m sure they’re also excellent in terms of looks. If you have a silver colored mobile laptop or smartphone, I’m sure this will look great when paired with them.

Build Quality

The build quality of the Takt C is fabulous and in fact there’s nothing left on the table except the cable in terms of quality. I especially liked the connector part which is built so well and durable. Since this part will be used a lot and likely to wear out over time if you use it several times a day, it is very important to have a durable USB connection.

The actual unit feels very premium and the volume and start/stop buttons feel very rigid. However, a detachable USB cable might be a good solution for securing the unit’s long term future, and also for other types of USB connection. I’m not sure whether this is possible in such a small form factor, or whether would the production cost go up, but that’s just my opinion.

The cable however could’ve been a bit more high quality. I think it could’ve been like iFi’s OTG Cable which has a very durable cable structure. The cable on the Takt C gives the same feeling like a standard Type C charging chord. But considering the fact that this device would be used with smartphones often, the cable could’ve been made from better materials for even more durability.

User Experience

Using the Takt C is very straightforward. You plug it to your smartphone, and you instantly have your tiny DAC/Amp ready to perform. It is also the same in my case with Windows 10. You just plug it and Windows recognizes it, and sets it up as the default sound device.

The volume control buttons on the device change the volume on Windows, and it does that very quickly. So if you want to crank up the volume quickly, you can press the volume up and hold it until you get your desired volume level, and it happens in a swift way.

One thing I noticed is that the device gets quite hot when I use it with my laptop, but not quite when I attach it to my phone. I don’t know why this happens but it’s just a small note for the people who want to use it with their computers.
