Earsonics AERO Review

Technical Performance

The Earsonics AERO has excellent resolution and detail retrieval overall. Tonality is surprisingly good for a TWS as well. “What could be better” you might ask; well, maybe transparency could be a notch better. However, I would prefer having this kind of coherency to having the ultimate transparency level.  After all, the transparency is already very very good.

Staging is wide and deep and it manages to create a nice and holographic soundstage. This really helps to have a spacious and separated feeling. Speaking of separation, the AERO also got you covered in that regard. Especially the mid-range is very impressive in terms of instrument separation. Overall separation is very good with a good sense of focus and black background. As a result of this separation performance, stereo imaging is also impressive for a TWS. The background is clean and black enough for you to pick every instrument.

Comparison with Falcon Pro

Operation-wise AERO is a bit easier to operate since the Falcon Pro’s tap mechanism is not as sensitive as the AERO. Earsonics offering also is better for phone calls with a better mic. Fit-wise they’re both very good and the Falcon Pro’s design has a lower profile with a smaller footprint.

When it comes to sound the Falcon Pro has a distinct V-shape signature compared to a more balanced and coherent AERO. Falcon Pro can give you big excitement with big and punchy bass, especially in the sub-bass region. Its treble is also brighter and crisper, with a bit more extension. However, the AERO is much more balanced and controlled. It has a better sound-stage with a wider and deeper performance to my ears.

So Falcon Pro has the edge in treble and bass, but the bass in particular is massive so it may not be your choice if you prefer more traditional genres of music. For popular tunes, the Falcon Pro is really impressive. Not to mention its resolution and transparency. I would myself go with the AERO simply because of my overall taste.

Conclusion

In the realm of TWS IEMs, the prices keep going up just like the evolution of portable audio since 2014. I think we’ll see even pricier TWS models in the near future. However, to be honest with you, most TWS IEMs don’t sound good to my ears. They’re mostly artificial and digital sounding.

The Earsonics AERO is one of the models that can change my stand against that. Just like the Sennheiser Momentum TWS 2 and the Noble Falcon Pro. So if you’re looking for an “audiophile-oriented” TWS, these are the ones you should take a serious look at. However, the AERO is a bit more special in my eyes simply because of its tremendous coherency, which I think is already a shining example in this particular market.

So the Earsonics AERO enters our Best TWS IEM Recommendations. This list is going to grow in the upcoming months and years for sure since the brands are entering this field one after another. But at this time, it’s one of the best options in the TWS category with an excellent sound performance which exceeded my expectations.

A keen audiophile and hobby photographer, Berkhan is after absolute perfection. Whether it is a full-frame camera or a custom in-ear, his standpoint persists. He tries to keep his photography enthusiasm at the same level as audio. Sometimes photography wins, sometimes his love for music takes over and he puts that camera aside. Simplistic expressions of sound in his reviews are the way to go for him. He enjoys a fine single malt along with his favourite Jazz recordings.

If you like these and don’t typically like the digital sounds of most TWS, try the Samsung Buds Pros. I can’t tell you how many times I have to take them out because I thought I heard something coming from the outside, only to find out it was coming from the earphones. They are that clear and natural.
