But first, let’s look at JDS Labs and the Atom Amp+ amplifier you can win. Note that it will ship with a EU power plug, so you might need to use a 16V 1a power adapter with your local power plug.
About JDS Labs
Many of you already have an acquaintance with JDS Labs because of the widely popular DACs & AMPs that they design. They are one of my favorite companies in the industry. I have used many of their products in the past, even the old ones such as JDS’s production of NwAvGuy’s O2 amplifier and Altoid can JDS CMoys. Those were the times! I can honestly say that I have never used anything “mediocre” from JDS. They always deliver, based on my experience.
JDS Labs started with an audiophile’s pursuit of excellence. The story begins with John Seaber, the JDS in JDS Labs. John, who was not happy with the bass response of his Sennheiser HD-280 Pro, designed a bass boost circuit and shared it with audio enthusiasts. In no time, John’s keen hands get overflown full of requests from other audio enthusiasts. Though JDS Labs was never planned to be a company, Co-Founder Nick joined in 2011, and the evolution that will make JDS Labs what it is today begins.
They are now this hugely popular killer company, which is trusted by the fans because of their honest and transparent attitude.

What’s New?
When we examine the detailed post shared by JDS, we see that JDS has improved the performance of the amp by making minor changes on the amp. They upgraded the input stage ICs from NJM2068 to NJM5532 and did small adjustments to supporting resistors. They state that they were not satisfied with the 2019 ALPS potentiometers used in the previous Atom Amp, so they switched to custom-made potentiometers which were produced specifically for the Atom+ Amp. All the custom-made potentiometers are hand-matched for tighter L/R balance to levels ~20dB lower than the Alps was able to offer. And best of all, none of these upgrades were reflected in the price.

JDS Labs continues to develop the Atom line consistently every passing year. Just when I was about to say how much better it could get, they continue to surprise me by finding something to improve. Of course, this makes me very happy because there are not many alternatives in this price range that offer this kind of performance. Thanks to the rising prices, the number of desktop products under $100 is decreasing steadily, and it is truly admirable that JDS is still defending the sub-100 castle. I hope they continue to do so because the Atom+ stack offers an excellent price to performance ratio thanks to its brilliant sound performance. Apart from sound, the devices are well-made and JDS has improved the plastic thanks to the mold injection and 3d tech. It is also pleasing that they have not given up on the stylish design with the iconic light ring. The stack punches way above its price tag and therefore it goes straight into the HFN Recommendation List!

First, thanks for having a giveaway. I’m a long time reader of this website and found it to be very valuable. I’m particularly interested in this as my daughter is coming of age in her teenage years and is starting to appreciate it more. This would be an awesome first amp for her. She just got her first $120 pair of edifiers, but she is really starting to like headphones especially for night time. I have some good headphones I rarely use that would work perfectly with this amp and I think she would be grateful to have have this and experience hifi sound. It reminds me of my first schiit fula amp I got years ago that got me started in hifi audio. I also transitioned jobs and as much as I’d love to purchase it, I’m a single father and its been a bit hard with with the increased food prices for neat things. Something like this would be just the thing to cheer her up and brighten her life. Thank you.

I bought an ol DAC in 2016 and ran it everyday to convert the optical on my PC into RCA to feed my Kanto Yu6 nevt to my gaming OLED TV. It finally popped the other day. That little DAC owed me nothing it outperformed the hundred bucks I spent on it in every way. JDS labs Said to send it in and maybe they can learn something from its failure which is cool but I wouldn’t take a warranty replacement had they try to offer. I would love to upgrade to this unit to replace the emotiva xbas amp that the ol DAC was also feeding pre Kanto. That was used as a head phone amp in the same setup.
