Happy New Year!

A few words from Nathan

First, I must thank each and every one of you for tolerating a new voice, and a new ear, in 2014. Back when I was with TouchMyApps, Headfonia was rival numero uno. But only one still is going. I think I joined the good side. Headfonia readers and mods have made me feel right at home. Thank you very much.

And a big thank you to Lieven for tolerating an upstart. The dude rolls on good ideas.

I want to keep things simple. I want to thank a few companies for making a few, very good products.

To Fostex I say:

Fostex HP-V1 assThank you for the HP-V1, a great-sounding, cylon bad-ass looking, portable valve amp that, in every area but one: its lack of a 6,3mm jack, replaces the Jaben Portatube as the portable valve amp to have.

To Cypher Labs I say:

CypherLabs-Piccolo-volume potWhile I dug your 720, it was Duet, and Picollo, that really got me up. Amazing gain control, flawless performance, and excellent tonality set these amps in the toppest niche there is.

To Lear I say:

LEAR-LCM-BD42-profile-2You are the king of revolution-think. Keep doing your thing. As long as you can keep peppering such a perfect stew of dynamic and balanced armatures, you deserve the highest of praise. The BD4,2 is amazing. But, if you’re gonna charge 1300$ for it, let’s reduce the blemishes, okay?

To Mr. Speakers I say:

DSC_1941No one does post-DIY like you. I just purchased Sean Chan’s old Alpha Dogs and am in love. In another year, when you release the Alpha Optimus Prime, I’ll grab Sean’s old Prime. And it will be godlike. Your shells, your cables, your cases: all are as good as can be. And comfort is tip top. Thank you.

To Myst Audio I say:

TENTO-PortaDAC-1866-ocub-v2--4You picked the right company to mass-produce your Porta DAC 1866. It is awesomer than ever. And since you developed the first audiophile-level Bluetooth DAC/amp receiver, you’ve got my expectations riding on your next move. And I expect a lot. Thank you.

Happy new year, Lieven, Nathan & Mike.

Since I got into audio, Headfonia has been a good source of information and inspiration. Thank you for your hard work, 88 reviews in one year is a lot. You surely put in a lot of your time and passion. And you are not just doing this for the money and the girls 😉

    Keep up the good work.

Thank you Tronco, it’s nice to see some appreciation 🙂
I have to say I haven’t noticed the girl part yet, not sure my gf would like that either 😉
      Happy new year!

Happy New Year Headfonia. I am glad to say I had a part in it. I will throw my hat into the best of ring. My favorite product was, by far, the Resonessence Labs Concero HP. The Concero HD was awesome too, but the DAC/AMP combo has amazingly good sound for an USB powered all in one unit. I loved it to the point I bought one myself and used it to replace my entire desktop collection. Here is to 2015!

Even on the last day, you make an article L.

To take this website so serious, is a pleasure for this community. I don’t regret a minute to be hear and check the latest reviews and classic reviews like the trio from senn, beyer and akg as example.

Also nathans podcast should be mentioned, because it is something different. You learn the background and opinions of the headfonia-team and other people of audio and other themes. Simple idea, but with great effort.

So take your time guys and priority what you guys want.

Best Regards and a happy new year Headfonia!

Happy new year to you guys at Headfonia! “Well, we’re planning on expanding things a bit to help you make better-informed choices. That’s as much as I will say for now…” Are we seeing a 2015 revision of the Headfonia Buyer’s Guide? I’m very hopeful.

I’m curious what you’d like to see in a buyer’s guide. I know from previous comments that it’s impossible to compare everything to everything else, but I’m always interested if there were something doable that could contribute.
