TEVI offers an excellent tuning for audiophiles. It has a balanced signature with hints of warmth across the low region. This means punchy bass with a relatively even frequency spectrum. TEVI’s sound quality is probably unmatched at this price point so I’ll jump to it right away.

TEVI has this relaxed presentation, where the placement of the instruments and layout of the stage is very well defined. You get a wide and relatively deep sound stage with adequate gaps between the instruments. This relaxed presentation surely contributes to the technical side of the TEVI and pushes the already good earphone to somewhere better. I say “already good” because while doing these, TEVI offers brilliant resolution and clarity. TEVI has great layering and you don’t encounter any congestion, even with the fastest passages and complex tracks. To be honest, achieving these with a mere 6mm dynamic is really impressive in my book. Kudos to Lypertek!

Lypertek Tevi

The TEVI has adequate bass quantity and it’s definitely not lacking in this regard. It’s not over-done but just right. The bass is dynamic, tight and has satisfying impact. Sub bass is a tad more forward than the rest of the lows, but the difference margin is small. This results in a livelier presentation which contributes to the dynamics. The PRaT is quite good and the 6mm graphene driver has no trouble catching up with twin pedal passages and mad drum solos.

Mids have good tonality with adequate note thickness. They are completely under control with a good amount of detail. Vocals feel natural and they do not sound thin or too thick. As I mentioned, TEVI’s presentation is quite relaxed. It is a surprisingly coherent earphone. The mids are definitely not recessive or forward. They tend to follow the rest of the spectrum in harmony. However, the upper mids have a slight hump that boosts clarity but it manages to stay under the sibilance radar.

Treble, however, is what I had the most trouble deducing. TEVI’s treble presentation is unique. Good control, a good amount of detail but the extension is just not adequate. In my opinion, treble extension means harmonics, and harmonics are essential to a HiFi earphone. The way TEVI is tuned, this does not really catch your attention right away. I am both curious and intrigued about this tuning choice, to be honest.

Quick Comparisons

Kinera YH623

TEVI offers a clarity focused, relaxed presentation whereas the Kinera is kind of claustrophobic. The TEVI is better in resolution, tonal balance, PRaT, and almost every other technical area. YH623 has much more bass quantity and hits much harder. Choose the YH623 if you’re an uncontrollable basshead.

Hifiman TWS600

The TEVI has quite good bass control and does not lack in weight. It has recessed mids and an almost equal treble presence compared to the TWS600. Resolution-wise I can say that it is a tie between both. Instrumental separation is almost equal as well but the Hifiman’s sound stage is wider. The excitement factor is more present on the TEVI whereas the HIFIMAN seeks more of an audiophile approach. PRaT is better on the TEVI as well.

RHA Trueconnect

RHA offers a much warmer presentation in comparison. They both have a similar resolution but TEVI has a more relaxed presentation. RHA’s sound stage is more intimate and instruments are tightly packed. RHA’s note weight is greater and sounds meatier across the spectrum compared to TEVI. The is behind both in quantity and impact when it comes to lows. PRaT-wise TEVI offers slightly better performance.

Final Words

The Lypertek TEVI is an excellent earphone with punchy bass, clear mids, and good highs. It offers great resolution and clarity for the price and it can tackle some earphones that are double the price. Apart from the sound quality, TEVI is IPX7 water-proof, has easy to push physical buttons, great fit, apt-X support and absolutely amazing battery life. Plus a gorgeous case. These are really hard to beat features, considering the price. If you’re in a market for a balanced, HiFi-focused TWS, give TEVI a chance. You will not regret it.
