Picture Sunday – Audeze MX-4

Disclaimer: The star of this weeks’ picture Sunday is the Audeze MX-4. This post is a part of our Picture Sunday series.

Audeze MX-4

The Audeze MX-4 is Audeze’s newest reference offering. The MX-4 goes for $2995 which puts it right between the LCD-3 and the LCD-4. You can find out all about it here: https://www.audeze.com/products/lcd-collection/lcd-mx4

I prefer the MX-4 over the LCD-4 myself, but I do like that it comes with the nice carbon headband.

Belhifi, the Belgian seller, was so nice so let us use their model for a review. As you can see the MX-4 comes in a large hard case/travel case, but there only was a single ended cable, and gloves in the box, and that for me at this price just is very little.

Powered by Audeze’s patented Fluxor magnets, the LCD-MX4 focuses 1.5 Tesla of magnetic flux on the lightweight 20 ohm impedance diaphragm. It is perfect for use where one isn’t likely to have a dedicated high-powered headphone amp and can be driven easily by a laptop or studio equipment. The LCD-MX4 headphones’ new lightweight design includes a durable magnesium housing with a carbon fiber headband. Significantly lighter than the LCD4 model, the new MX4 is perfect for long mixing sessions and hours of critical listening.

The Audeze MX-4 will be staying with us for a few weeks, so expect a review soon!

Have a nice weekend!

At this price range you guys should try to compare with a competitive reference Stax system which has proven it self time and again for years like the 007 MK2, as so many headphones release in recent times in the range of $2000 and up but fail to stay in the conversation as years go by.

E.G People still talk about the 009 and HD800 as a reference comparison and to an extent LCD 2 and HE 6 but who goes back talking about any other high end headphones on a regular basis.

I’ve thought that also at times, but in the end I think most of those direct comparisons between ES, Dynamic, and Planar headphones belong in a FAQ. Comparing to a different type like that in a review – the fundamental difference is worth a mention, but can be a distraction too.
