Review: Dita Audio – Twins: Fealty and Fidelity

Dita Audio Twins

Comparison:

Single dynamic driver earphones have been enjoying a lot of popularity in the recent past. Ever since Astell&Kern/Beyerdynamic released their AK T8iE collaboration we have seen more and more brands jump in and release dynamic driver flagships. The most popular would be those of Campfire Audio. Though the Atlas is their current top of the line offering, I can’t compare it to the Twins. However I can give you a comparison to the Vega.

Campfire Audio – Vega (1DD, 1099$)

The Vega probably was one of the highest regarded single dynamic driver IEMs out there. It still might be. I have had it for a while now, actually I got it shortly after its launch, but haven’t given it much ear-time lately, with all the superior sounding monitors that have stepped into my life.

The Vega in my opinion has a pretty uncontrolled bass, sharp edged treble and a generally small sound stage. It is a fun sounding monitor, sure, but the extreme bass certainly can be too much for some folks. Both Dita IEMs are more balanced, more refined and have an easier to handle sound. Vega can sound bloated and sibilant.

Vega definitely throws a harder punch and has a more bone shattering sub-bass compared to the Dita Twins. The Twins have an airier presentation with better imaging and a bigger sound stage, easier to like treble presentation and a higher wow factor to me.

Conclusion:

A lot of companies have launched co-flagships lately, trying to satisfy different tastes for different folks. Dita did the same but with two solo dynamic driver pieces. Both models share a distinctive core signature, which is impactful, highly resolved and easy to listen to. By introducing the Twins, Dita has shown what their engineering is capable of. These are some of the finest and most balanced sounding dynamic drivers my ears came across. The natural and bodied approach of Fealty has won me personally over.

The provided package is something really special with their awesome plug design. I truly wish more manufacturers would come up with modular designs just like this.

The only downside to me is that you can’t use their cable with other monitors and that there are no foam ear-tips supplied. A hard-shell case would also have been nice.
