Sound Quality
In General
Compared to Sivga’s previous headphone offerings, the apple doesn’t fall too far away from the tree with the Que, as it also has a natural and organic tonality, just like its headphones. It has good dynamic range, harmonics and full-bodied sound across all ranges.
Sonically, the Que delivers an impressive performance in bass response, treble clarity, and overall tonality. The bass is impactful and well-textured, while the treble offers clarity and definition, especially in the lower treble. However, a noticeable shortcoming is the mid-range, which, while smooth and natural, lacks the transparency and crispness that could elevate the Que to an exceptional level. This limitation slightly dampens the overall sound experience, particularly for those who favour a more forward and defined mid-range.
Bass
The Sivga Que delivers an impactful and well-balanced bass response that is both capable and textured, with good definition and a satisfying rumble. While it may not have the fastest decay or speed, the bass remains rounded and balanced, providing sufficient impact.
The emphasis on the mid-bass adds body and an organic tonality that fits well within its price range. The bass presence is noticeable without dominating the overall sound, making it an ideal choice for those who enjoy warmth and punch. However, for listeners seeking an analytical or flat sound signature, the Que’s impactful and warm bass might not be the best match.
The Sivga Que excels at delivering quality bass that integrates well with the rest of the frequency spectrum, ensuring a balanced sound profile. While the bass is textured and impactful, a quicker decay would enhance its performance, especially for genres like Pop and R&B. The separation between the bass and mids is commendable, contributing to a realistic and clear listening experience. Although some bass enthusiasts might desire even more impact and rumble, the Que’s bass performance is quite satisfying, particularly at its price point.
Mids
The mids on the Sivga Que exhibit warmth, aligning with the mid-bass to create an appealing tonality. Sivga has managed to integrate some of its headphone characteristics into this IEM, producing a smooth, fluid mid-range with good vocal definition. However, the slightly recessed positioning in the soundstage may not suit those who prefer more prominent mids.
While the Que boasts realistic and lively timbre, contributing to a natural and organic sound with an analogue-like quality, the transparency and clarity in the mid-range could be improved. This results in a somewhat veiled atmosphere, especially noticeable during complex tracks. The mid-bass, while rich, occasionally interferes with the lower mid-range, impacting transparency and reducing detail and resolution. Despite these points, the Que’s tonal accuracy and instrument presentation are impressive for its price, making it enjoyable for those who value natural sound reproduction.
Treble
The high frequencies on the Sivga Que are well-defined and clear, particularly in the lower treble, delivering a satisfying and enjoyable listening experience. This IEM caters well to listeners who appreciate a crisp treble presentation, with solid resolution and a balanced timbre that strikes a good middle ground between thin and thick textures. The clarity and sense of air in the treble contribute to a well-rounded sound signature.
However, the upper treble performance reveals some limitations, which is expected given the Que’s $69 price point and its single dynamic driver configuration. Even higher-tier single dynamic driver IEMs can struggle with achieving a highly detailed and sparkling upper treble, so this is understandable for a budget model. ,
While the Que does a commendable job in the lower treble, offering detail and a resolving nature suitable for a range of music genres, the upper treble lacks some extension. This affects the overall spaciousness and airiness that could elevate the sound profile further. Despite this, the Que’s treble performance is solid and fitting for its price, with room for improvement in the upper frequencies to enhance its air and extension.
