TinHiFi T2 Plus review

Specifications

For the nit-pickers and nerdy ones here, I’m giving the specs and technical sheets. For all the others, you can just go to the next page to see how the T2 Plus performs.

NanoPure Nickel-Zinc Alloy Driver

If visually the TinHifi T2 Plus doesn’t look like the T2/T3 anymore, the inner components are also vastly different.

Where the T2 uses a dual-driver configuration (1x6mm DD + 1x10mm DD) and the T3 a hybrid configuration (1x Balanced Driver + 1x10mm DD, the T2 Plus only use one dynamic driver. But, this one is made of a new Nickel-Zinc Alloy “ready to deliver a high-performance reference monitor playback, unheard of for its price range”.

This is also easier to tune than the previous dual driver system and the T2 plus should sound more like the TinHifi T4 than the T2/T3. At least on paper.

The sensitivity is correct for a dynamic IEM (104dB/mW) but the low impedance (32Ohms) should not be an issue for any of the actual DAP, or even smartphones. Without the previous push/pull configuration, the distortion remains around 1% across the whole frequency range.

Isolation

Sound isolation isn’t the forte of the TinHifi T2 Plus, I’d give it a 5/10 on a daily basis.

There are better options, especially if you lean toward acrylic-made IEM, but I tried worse models too. Metallic enclosures can be hit or miss, and sometimes the shell can amplify high or low frequencies, which is not what we want.

As usual, the foam tips give the best results, properly stopping unwanted noises. Even if the TinHifi T2 Plus got small vents, this was not an issue, but if you want good noise-blockers, you should check out models like the DT200 from AudioSense.

Silicon tips also gave good results, but not as good as the foam. My best choice remains SpinFit tips, giving foam-like isolation with the simplicity of silicon sleeves.

So, time to check the full specs!

A nerdy guy with a passion for audio and gadgets, he likes to combine his DAC and his swiss knife. Even after more than 10 years of experience, Nanotechnos still collects all gear he gets, even his first MPMAN MP3 player. He likes spreadsheets, technical specs and all this amazing(ly boring) numbers. But most of all, he loves music: electro, classical, dubstep, Debussy : the daily playlist.

Any recommendation for DAC pairing (under $200, without going balanced)?
