TinHifi T3 Plus Review

Design & Build Quality

Casing

At first glance, the TinHifi T3 Plus gives a very different vibe, especially when compared to the first version.

First and foremost, the grayish metallic shell makes way for a resin-made one, making the new T3 Plus the polar opposite of the previous T3. And, if the bullet design was the brand’s trademark, the new shell doesn’t look as quirky as before.

But, out of the box, I was surprised by how good-looking they look, as the retail box doesn’t give a hint of what’s inside. The solid black shell, combined with a marble textured faceplate, is topped by an aluminum nozzle, which is more than unexpected in this price range.

The only drawback I could spot would be the 2-pin port instead of an MMCX one, but apart from that, there isn’t anything to complain about. Size-wise, they fit right between the T3 and the FiiO FD7 I recently reviewed, so they should fit almost every ear.

Again, I have to highlight how good entry-level IEM has become in those past years. When you had to pay hundreds of dollars to get this kind IEM you can now get a semi-custom one, with real metallic parts, for a fraction of that price.

Build Quality

Unsurprisingly, build quality is top-notch, and the TinHifi T3 Plus even puts to shame some of its similarly-priced competitors. There are no steps, no cracks, no bruises, just one smooth surface all over the shell, and it feels perfectly balanced in the hand.

The shell is made of two pieces only, the main 3D-printed translucent body, and the nozzle. That last part isn’t a direct extension of the body but a metallic plug, connected with the shell. The 2-pin port fits perfectly, even if I’d have preferred an MMCX one, for durability, and the cable feels equally robust.

On each side, the brand emblazoned its golden logo on top of the white/black faceplate. And, blended together, I found the whole design absolutely gorgeous, even more, if you consider the asking price!

The cable is quite good and if you can find better ones on the market. It’s braided, straight-shaped at the end, and feels pretty robust. At least enough to withstand a daily dose of commuting abuse.

Comfort

Again, compared to the first generation, the new T3 Plus gives a completely different experience. With a semi-custom shell, comfort is a league beyond what I used to get with the first T3, the new model completely filling my ears now.

As I expected, the TinHifi completely filled my ears, once fitted with the right tips – for me the mediums one. To top all of that, the provided cable didn’t push any microphonics and felt much better than I expected over a long listening session, thanks to the silicon sleeves, contouring my ears.

Isolation

Like all resin-made IEM, the TinHifi T3 Plus is a very good noise-blockers.

Be it railroad sounds, subway closing-doors siren, or the usual talking “brouhaha” heard in crowded places, the IEM managed to dampen it quite swiftly. I use a mechanical keyboard at the office, and if I can hear the click with silicon tips at low volume, once I’ve plugged some foam, every unwanted noise is completely out of the picture.

Of course, if you want the best isolation, go for the foam tips, which will completely fill your ears.

So, time to check the specs!

Only one short page to talk sound and so much fluff before… Definitely a forgettable review.
