Tronsmart Apollo Bold Review

Tronsmart Apollo Bold

Sound Quality

The Apollo Bold has a bold sound signature as the name suggests. It has a warm and dark presentation with a lot of bass emphasis. The bass quantity is certainly intense and impressive. I can see why it has many fans around the world. I can also say that the earbuds have a classic V-shaped signature. The bass is forward, the midrange is recessed and the treble is there but definite. The bass response is big, it has the power and it has the impact. It makes the whole process quite fun and exciting, especially if you like genres like EDM, Hip-Hop, R&B and such. The powerful bass comes with a negative, though, the attack decay feels not so fast compared to other TWS earphones on the market, especially the ones with balanced signatures. However, they do not have this kind of bass and impact so one must choose. Moving on to the midrange, the sweetness continues here.

The mids are full-bodied, textured and recessed. The clarity is adequate, the vocals, especially artists like Tom Waits are quite fun to listen to. You can hear and feel the sub-vibrations of their vocal cords thanks to thick mids. Vocals are easy to follow despite the recessed midrange, thanks to the tuning that Tronsmart achieved. Upper mids are somewhat tamed with enough clarity and spark around the 4k-8k region. The Treble quantity is adequate and the clarity is good. The cymbals and hi-hats do not overwhelm the stage and they do not sound shouty. The PRaT is somewhat limited so if you’re looking for a technical marvel here, don’t.

This earphone is tuned for an immersive basshead experience and it does its job very well. The soundstage is deep but not very wide. The earbuds have a decent instrument separation. The smooth presentation of the IEMs makes everything sound sweet and warm. That means long but non-fatiguing listening sessions! Soft, coherent, and warm. If that is your recipe, these may be the ultimate solution for you.

Comparison

vs. JAYS t-Seven (149 USD)

The Apollos have a bigger bass that and a more recessed midrange compared to the t-Sevens. Both of the earbuds have similar stage properties but the instrument separation of the t-Seven is better. Additionally, t-Seven’s PRaT is technically better than the Apollo Bold. It is faster, snappier and more energetic. The treble response is somewhat similar. If you’re a true bass-head, go for the Bold. If you want a more balanced signature with a good bass response, go for t-Sevens.

vs. 1More Colorbuds (99 USD)

First thing that I noticed is the increased treble, upper mid presence of the Colorbuds. The Apollo Bold sounds warmer, bolder and darker compared to the Colorbuds. The Colorbuds offer a wider stage but Apollo’s stage is deeper and it sounds more coherent compared to the Colorbuds. Resolution-wise the they are in the same performance bracket but the PRaT of Colorbuds is better.

Last Words

Tronsmart created a brilliant basshead TWS earphone with many great features. The Hybrid ANC works great and it successfully blocks most of the noise out. If you go ahead and combine it with good quality foam tips, you are going to have a really good time. 6 Microphones do help the call quality and it offers satisfactory performance in that department as well. Apart from those, the Apollo Bold has an excellent chipset that supports AptX and TWS+. Furthermore, combine all of this with a great build quality and IP45 certification, you get a long-lasting IEM with a very good skill set. If you are a basshead looking for a TWS type of earphone, I definitely recommend you to give the Apollo Bold a try.

Looking nice and specs are good for $99 earbuds. I’m just wondering that would be available in India or I have to just go with xiaomi or oneplus earbdus?
