Vision Ears EXT

Again VE crowns itself as King of packaging and accessories, it’s that simple. Let’s have a closer look at some of the accessories.

The case

The EXT X-Design from the face plates is also prominently covering the aluminium case. The inside walls of the case are all covered with a rubber inlay, so that the earphone is always protected when you are on the go. A premium leather pocket holds the earphones in place, preventing them to collide during transport.

The Cable

The EXT comes with a premium 8 wire spc 28AWG cable with a balanced 2.5mm connector as a standard. With the included and new gold-plated phosphor bronze conductor adapter you can simply change the termination from 2.5mm to 4.4mm. This premium adapter comes with a and an audio grade POM insulation.

Tips

The universal EXT comes with two different types of tips: Spinfit CP500 and AZLA hermoplastic elastomer tips. The EXT nozzle is quite short but it is rather large in diameter and it – for me anyway – is not always easy to get the tips over the end of the nozzle. It certainly is something to take into account if you want to tip-roll the EXT after your purchase. I myself have been only using the supplied tips, but be warned.

Vision Ears EXT

Build quality, Comfort, Isolation

Build Quality

Perfection. That’s what you’re getting with the EXT. The EXT earpieces are small and the connection between the black acrylic shell and the metal face plate is flawless. The 2-pin connectors sit perfectly flush on the surface and the mesh protector at the end of the nozzle is perfectly integrated.

The cable is terminated with a 2-pin connector and a 2.5mm balanced plug. From the heat shrink memory wire to the Y-splitter, everything is well built and luxuriously finished. There really are no flaws here and it’s as good as it gets. Nothing to worry about at all

Comfort & Isolation

Comfort-wise I am not always a fan of universal monitors, but he EXT are quite small and they disappear in your ear. The fit for me is excellent as the bottom part of the shell has a semi-custom design. Depending on your ears and canals, some tips might be more comfortable than others. As said, the nozzle is quite large in diameter, so for some this might be important to know.

As the EXT is tiny and sits very well in the ear, the Isolation – taking into account the design, driver types and the tips – is very good for a universal IEM. It in fact is better than average because of its design.

But how does it sound I can hear you ask? Well let’s find out.

Vision Ears EXT

Sound – Intro

For the part on sound we used a multitude of sources such as the AK SP2000, AK SP2000T, the Fiio M17 (super great source!), L&P W2, Mojo and many more. The EXT was always used in balanced mode and with the Spinfit tips.

Sound – Vision Ears

Vision Ears always describes the sound of their creations themselves and for the EXT, these are the main conclusions. For the full VE sound description, click here.

– Very deep lows, Elegant & refined mids, extended highs

– High Resolution, superb enjoyment, Musical

– Bass: Prominent presence. Great depth/layering and decay, natural and impactful presentation

– Mids: Precisely tuned on the vocal range. Full & rich, natural.

– Highs: High detail, easiness

In general Vision Ears is usually spot on when it comes to describing their monitors’ sound, and it’s not just marketing rambling. Let’s find out just how right they are this time round.
