Disclaimer: The Cayin N5MK2 DAP was sent to us by Cayin in exchange for a review. Cayin isn’t a site partner but the sample doesn’t need to be returned.
This week you get a first look at the brand new Cayin N5MK2 aka the N5ii aka the N5MKII DAP. We received this BETA version directly from Cayin only yesterday, and this new DAP is their mid-fi DAP that replaces their original N5 DAP which was launched back in July 2015 already.
I won’t say too much about it yet, just watch the video, the N5MK2 is gorgeous. We’ll unbox, look at some specs, the case, lay-out and the menu structure. If you have no idea what an N5 even is, then I suggest checking out this article first: https://www.headfonia.com/review-cayin-n5-ribbed-pleasure/
Navigation wise, while there certainly are differences, the N5MK2 resembles the Cayin i5 a lot as it is Android 5.1, you can find the Cayin i5 review here: https://www.headfonia.com/review-cayin-i5-dap-the-do-it-all/
Enjoy!
Watch it Wednesday – Episode 6
We’ll be back next week with another video. What about? No idea yet, but it will yet again be exciting 😉

What date was this article published? There’s no date at the bottom of the article, and just above and to the right of the title, it says 01/11/2017.
Thanks!
Lieven
November 1st. says so at the top. Why?

Oh, I got mixed up… in america, we type month/day/ year, though I know that in other countries they type day/month/year. Thought that somehow I had missed a DAP option for 10 months!
Lieven
yeah, Europe FTW 😉

I’ve got my HD 650, hope to get an HD 660 S someday when I get my financials sorted out (I lost some hours and my wife lost a job in September), and I’ve been searching around for a good, affordable DAP that I can enjoy on the go, but can suffice as a system at home with the HD 650. So, having heard good things about this DAP and enjoyed the Shanling M1s tour, I’m looking forward to your review of the Cayin!
Thanks very much!
Larry
Hi Linus,
I’m getting ready to sell my beloved high-end stereo and move to a portable or transportable system (the downside of living in a vintage condo). My home system has tube-based Cary gear so I’m seriously considering the Woo Audio WA8 Eclipse / Sennheisser 800s. But you just threw a wrench in the works after reading your stellar review of the Chord Hugo 2. I understand it’s a bit of “apples and oranges”, given that one is tube and the other SS. And I’m guessing there are pros and cons to each. But I would really appreciate it if you could you give me some idea of how they compare sound-wise, particularly in musicality and emotional engagement. And again, I really like the 800s so I don’t know if one is a better synergy than the other. Thank you
Larry
Sorry, I just posted the above question under the wrong review and I don’t see any way to delete it. :-p
