As promised and explained earlier, we’ll be doing a year long of weekly giveaways and last September was the start of our 52-week celebration. For this twelfth unit of the biggest audio giveaway the world has ever seen, we’re giving away the Elite 19 Interconnect from Double Helix Cables, worth around $350USD! The Elite 19 can become yours and all you have to do is… sign up and leave a funny comment.
But first, let’s look at DHC and the Elite 19 IC!!
About DHC
Double Helix Cables is an American brand for boutique aftermarket cables formed by Peter Bradstock. DHC has been formed in 2009 and only three years later Peter has decided to commit his full energy and time to the project of bringing exciting and great sounding products to the market. According to their website, DHC’s true mission is to find the upper limits of headphone performance. In 2016, with the launch of their Prion4 headphone cable, they say that mission may as well have been reached.
DHC isn’t like most other companies in this segment, that is already obvious when you take a look at the product pages on their website. When you scroll through each site, you will notice that the detail of information is incredible. DHC even shows you exactly how their cables are made.
The Elite 19
To be honest I don’t have all the information about his cable as Peter told us he would make it especially for our celebration and it is completely new. All we know is that it’s an Elite 19 Interconnect, terminated with a 3.5mm connector on each end. He will be using 19awg OCC silver to make it. Just checked and I don’t see it anywhere. However, the DNA theme seems strong enough in the site, so I’m willing to let this pun opportunity go. I do have to say that I’m not into boutique cables yet but I have to tip my hat to the workmanship and technological prowess of DHC. Quite impressive stuff.

This week’s giveaway is one I would normally avoid because I believe there is a point of diminishing returns when it comes to expensive cables. I certainly appreciate the value of a cable like the one that is planned for this giveaway.
Also, there are instances when a better cable has made one hell of a difference in my equipment’s audio quality. That said, it’s just as likely that the diminishing return of a cable of this caliber is due more to the fact that I can’t afford equipment that can be significantly improved by it.
