64 Audio

In our corners 64 Audio shouldn’t need an introduction anymore. But that doesn’t mean that we won’t give you a quick run-down of their history nonetheless.

64 Audio is an American brand that produces custom and universal fit In Ear Monitors. Their universal product range goes from their most affordable Duo all the way up to the very high end Fourté. Their custom line-up goes from the low budget A2E all the way up to the high end A18t/s.

64 Audio has been around the audio scene for over a decade already. They began their journey as 1964 Ears but have renamed themselves to 64 Audio in the meantime.

The company was founded by Vitaliy Belonozkho and during the process of the company’s success many brothers of the Belonozkho family have joined Vitaliy. Although it has to be noted, that some of them also have left the brand in order to realize their own visions.

Since their creation, 64 Audio has kept pushing the envelope with new technologies. They introduced their tia drivers, which are openly radiating balanced armature drivers. Aside from that, they also introduced LID (Linear Impedance Design) and Apex. LID basically sets an almost linear impedance curve throughout the entire frequency range, while Apex helps mitigate ear-fatigue by simulating a secondary ear-drum. This is an open module that eliminates pneumatic pressure that builds up in an otherwise closed room.

64 Audio’s main focus clientele-wise however is not necessarily audiophile based. They work with many renowned artists, such as Alanis Morissette, Beyonce, John Mayer, Nathan East, Black Eyed Peas or Bon Jovi. Just to name a few.

The unit we’re looking at today is their universal U6t IEM. Let’s get started! You can find all our previous 64 Audio reviews here.

U6t

The 64 Audio U6t is the second “lowest” IEM in their universal line-up, with only the brand new Duo below it. We published Duo’s review just a few weeks ago, you can check it out here:

The U6t’s dedicated web page can be found right here. The U6t has been with me for quite a while now, so I have had the pleasure to listen extensively to it. 64 Audio states that the U6t is the universal version of their most popular CIEM, so a lot is expected from it, both by 64 Audio as well from the market.

The 64 Audio logically features six drivers per side and it is drawing from the sonic palette of the U12t. The driver config is the following: 1 tia high, 1 hi-mid, 2 mid, 2 low. The U6t has an integrated 4-way passive crossover and only a 10Ohm impedance.

The U6t is 64’s second most affordable audiophile monitor to date (after the Duo – $1,199 USD). The U6t is featuring the same technology as 64 Audio’s flagship IEMs and they have incorporated it in their ergonomic aluminum shell to make it more accessible than ever.

The 64 Audio U6t uses the proprietary tia, Apex and LID technology. A quick recap:

Tia: A tubeless design that reduces resonance for a transparent and lifelike sound signature.

Apex: Only from 64 Audio, apex alleviates listener fatigue by releasing air pressure sealed in the ear canal. This venting enables musicians and music enthusiasts to listen more comfortably for longer.

LID: Enables a consistent, reliable sound regardless of audio source.

If you’re not familiar yet with 64 Audio’s technology, you can read and discover all about in the following page: https://www.64audio.com/technology.

The 64 Audio U6t comes with 3 sets of filters: the m20 apex modules (light grey/silver), the mX apex modules (black) and the m15 apex modules (gunmetal color).

Box, Accessories, Cable

The 64 Audio U6t comes in a pretty and luxurious box, as we’re used to from 64 Audio. The presentation is really nice and especially the way the tips are displayed and stored is very nice. The filters, like with 64’s other models, are carefully kept in the typical plastic holder. The filters are small and they’re easy to lose, so make sure to use the foreseen storage/socket, which perfectly fits inside the leather carrying case.

For $1,299 USD, you get a very complete package in return:
