Blog: Headphone Heaven – Show Report

MYTEK

Mytek certainly was the most seen brand at the show

I really like the Mytek design and their beautiful Brooklyn DAC (/AMP) was THE most seen unit at the show.

It was everywhere, don’t you just love its look?

Of course as you can see, it was all about MQA as well

So yeah, it want this badly for review

Nordost & Taurus

At a nice show of course cables have to be present too, and we saw nice examples from Norse

From Leif

And from Taurus

Prism

I’ve had this unit with me for a week or two but I just couldn’t get to love it as much as I wanted.

While the DAC part is great, the headphone out didn’t seem to get to the same level.

Questyle

Oh yes, a lot of Questyle was present as well. I hope we’ll finally be able to get samples more easy now.

The Questyle DAPs were everywhere, but it’s the full stack that keeps drawing me to the brand each and every time

RHA

RHA is a bit like Fiio in the sense that they deliver great value for money. The RHA booth featured all of their units and of course the new wireless gear, but to me the CL1 & L1 combo still is the very best.

According to the guys at the booth, it’s the 750 models though that is most popular.

Sennheiser

One of my favourite brands and they actually had another world premiere with them. It surprised me so much that I actually forgot to take pictures of the HE-1/Orpheus they brought to the show. Incredible

Next to the classic HD800 they were also showing the HD800S with their new HDVD820 DAC/AMP

I’m curious to see if the 820 will become more popular than the original model

I did find Senn’s closed variable bass headphone at the Questyle booth, a headphone you rarely see at these shows

But the biggest surprise actually was the successor of the HD650, which is called the HD660S. Unlike the HD800 unit, this version only comes in the S version. It still looks very much like the original HD650 but the (headband) materials used now are different (no more paint chips) and the grills were a tad different too.

Unfortunately I can’t show you the pictures yet as there’s still an embargo on the HD660S. I will add these later. Sorry guys 🙂

Edit: you can already find the HD660S info on Sennheiser’s website.

Shure

I’ve never been to a show where Shure wasn’t represented.

Shure always brings their testing setup and every single one of their models to the show, even the popular KSE 1500

Woo Audio

The Belhifi guys did bringthe lovely Woo WA22 to the show, it’s one of my favorite amps!

And that’s it for this show report. Like I said it was small but really nice and there always were a good number of people at the show.

Show

Well done Headphone Heaven, we’ll be back for sure next year!

Any chance we see an ER3XR review soon now that they’re out?
