For this twenty-second unit of the biggest audio giveaway the world has ever seen, we’re giving away one Pro-Ject Audio Systems Stream Box S2 Ultra worth $849USD!! This wonderful streaming bridge as it’s called, can become yours and all you have to do is … sign up and leave a comment. Any comment is good but let’s keep it entertaining and comment what your ultimate headphone is.
But first, let’s look at Pro-Ject Audio Systems and their Stream Box S2 Ultra.
About Pro-Ject Audio Systems
Pro-Ject was founded in 1991, during the onslaught of the compact disc and CD players, with the mission to offer the best analogue experience for reasonable prices. In a time where the digital audio media had been on the rise, and vinyl was declared as outdated and dead, Heinz Lichtenegger kept his belief in the simple but best way to enjoy music – turntables.
Their aim is to get as many people as possible into the wonderful hobby that is HiFi audio and to deliver a real stereo experience for the lowest cost possible. The best way to start there is with a proper turntable. They want to give the customers back the right to choose what they need, without over-blowing their products with unnecessary features.
But Pro-Ject Audio Systems isn’t only about turntables and they have a whole series of HiFi electronics and even speakers.
The Pro-Ject Audio Systems Stream Box S2 Ultra
The item you can win this week is the Stream Box S2 Ultra, a unit I have been using and enjoying myself for the last few months now. You can find the dedicated product-page right here: https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/stream-box-s2-ultra/
It’s not an easy to explain product and you can read all about it at the above link, but I’ll try to keep it simple to explain what this box does and how I use it. The Stream Box S2 Ultra is a unit you put in-between your source and your DAC and it is connected to the internet and your local network. That means you can access your music server over DLNA in example and you can connect to Spotify and Tidal via the little box. To control the box you either need a laptop or phone with an app. Just choose your source, music and the box will stream it to your local DAC.
A big plus is that the Stream Box S2 Ultra is ROON certified as well, so ROON users -like me- have it extra easy. Just turn on your laptop with Roon and select the Stream Box S2 Ultra as output and enjoy your music from your local storage or Tidal or Spotify. No more cables are needed from your laptop either, basically one of the the goals of a streaming bridge.
This is just a short resume of how I use the little streamer but it does a lot more and it does so flawlessly. It has become a vital part of my living room setup and you can’t even spot it, it’s so little. A great product.

So, my ultimate headphones would be… I don’t know, actually.
Ideally, I would like them to have wood cups with semi-open backs and perhaps planar magnetic drivers with either a beryllium or titanium diaphragm. I’m pretty partial to the bio-cellulose diaphragms, too. So that’s a tough call.
If I could buy any headphone I wanted to right now and the price was not a factor, I would likely buy Focal Utopia. But that would be nothing like what I just described. So obviously, I really don’t know what would be my ideal headphones.

So far I have had opportunity to listen to a few headphones. I started from very cheap headphones with name I cant even remember. That was something like 15years ago? After that I got new for a birthday. It was headphones from Tracer, another low-budget-ones, but they served me for the next 5 or more year. Frankly I still have them somewhere in cabinet, covered with dust, but working. I can only say about them: until you are aware that something may sound better, you use it. That was untill I bought Koss UR40, very comfortable in use, decent look and the most important thing – very good sound. It was like change wreck for a porsche 🙂
UR40 were very decent headphones, but time has come for change and it happened. Exactly MEZE 99 Classics happened week ago (for my approaching 30th birthdays, but they arrived earlier, of which I’m very happy ^^). Oh guys these headphones are incredible, perfect sound, dynamic and great bass. Very very impressive design and materials. This is my choice for ULTIMATE HEADPHONES – MEZE 99 Classics! 🙂
