Blog: We found our new writer!

If you’ve been following us then you know we a few months ago started looking for a new writer, and well, we’ve found one!

The quest is over

We didn’t expect to get as many applications as we did and so we had to set up a process to find the chosen one. In the end the choice was still hard to make but we all voted and as a result we can now present to you our newest writer: Matty!

Matty will slowly start writing for us and somewhere in September you’ll probably get to see his first reviews. We hope you will like his writing as much as we do, so please welcome him to the team. As he’s new, we’ll allow to you make fun of him a little, just not too much 😉

Actually, he’s not completely new to the review world and some might have read reviews of his already…We won’t tell you where, but if you do know, share it in the comments section!

So who is that new guy?

Well he’s from Australia and Matty’s considers himself to be a music-fan first (music nerd, even?) and a headphone enthusiast second. He’s excited to be joining the team at Headfonia to help fans uncover new ways to connect with music, and break-down technical jargon to help provide meaningful review advice.

A fan of craftsmanship as well as engineering, Matty’s favourite headphones are unsurprisingly ones that blend sonic performance with “heirloom” build: The ZMF Eikon and Grado Labs GH1, and for a more modern twist, the MrSpeakers Aeon Flow (Open).

Matty is a mad vinyl collector and enjoys pairing his favourite music with matching equipment and craft beer, and mainly enjoys rock music – heavy rock, progressive metal, grunge rock, alternative rock, and everything in-between. His favourite albums (the only way to listen to music, in his humble opinion) are: “Siamese Dream” by The Smashing Pumpkins; “Weezer” by Weezer (The Blue Album); “Lateralus” by Tool; “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC; and “Temple of the Dog” by Temple of the Dog.

Welcome!

Music, beer and headphones! You get why we had to choose him. And no he didn’t bribe us with Australian craft beer.

I promise that no Diana Krall albums will be harmed in the making of any of my reviews.
