Ortofon’s EC7/8s cables in black and silver, the difference between them being the model number 7 and 8 respectively. And the silver, being 20$ more expensive, is supposed to sound better. It may, I don’t know.

What I do know, and what tickles me more than anything, is that Ortofon’s current earphone lineup lacks swappable cable jacks. In other words, if you purchase either an ec8s or an ec7s, you must use it on an earphone made by someone else.

In my case, I love how picturesque the ec8s and Ultrasone IQ become. So pretty. And the ec7s looks and feels good attached to Oriveti’s Primacy. Essentially, any traditionally coloured metal earphone out there could look HOT with either cable.

If you’re out side of Japan, as far as I know, the only place you can get them is at Musica Acoustics: Ortofon EC7S/EC8S MMCX.

Back before he became the main photographer for bunches of audio magazines and stuff, Nathan was fiddling with pretty cool audio gear all day long at TouchMyApps. He loves Depeche Mode, trance, colonial hip-hop, and raisins. Sometimes, he gets to listening. Sometimes, he gets to shooting. Usually he's got a smile on his face. Always, he's got a whisky in his prehensile grip.

Nice photo Nathan, the finishing of the connector to the wire looks superb. Did you try these with the Andromeda?

Of course, my good man. Of course. I happen to think the silver works out brilliantly.
