Sennheiser Accentum Wireless Review

Everyday Use

On the go

On a daily basis, the Sennheiser Accentum is surprisingly efficient, even brillant if I had to say.

Let’s begin with the goods: Bluetooth pairing is blazing fast. Once you’ve paired your headset, it’ll automatically connect to your phone and I was pleasantly surprised to see the Momentum systematically pair with my iPhone every time I turned on the headset. Apart from my AirPods, none other headphone was this fast, making the Accentum an easy pick everytime I needed a quick peak for a call/listening session with my phone.

Same goes for the overall ergonomics. Now that the Accentum ditched the sensitive surface for a simpler layout of buttons, I found this new model to be even easier to use than the Momentum 4. On the go you can :

  • raise / lower the volume with the dedicated buttons
  • use the play/pause button to stop/resume your track, and go for the next/previous track with a double/triple tap
  • double click on the dedicated button to get the noise-canceling / transparent hearing

And, when I pested at the Momentum 4 for its bugginess, none of that ever happened with the Accentum, which worked as intended, from start to finish.

Isolation

If the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless was a massive disappointment in terms of noise-cancelation, the Accentum Wireless is a major upgrade, even if it remains a far cry compared to major players like Bose, Apple or Sony.

To be more accurate, if I’d rate my AirPods Pro 2 10/10 in this regard, and the AirPods Max 7/10, the Accentum would earn a 5/10 on my personal chart – not excellent, but definitely not bad either. Voices were damped, even at moderate listening volume, while high-pitched sounds couldn’t get through as easily as before – even if that wasn’t perfect. Low-pitched noises like rumbles were much more toned down, but that may just be the good cushions working their way here…

Transparency mode

Just a quick word regarding the Transparency mode: it’s quite efficient, but it sounds way too artificial, especially compared to Apple’s headsets.

Contrary to the AirPods Max, where you get the sensation that your headphone magically disappears, the Accentum just enhances outside voices and everything that’s above the 2kHz. It doesn’t magically blend but either seems like you’ve put too much contrast on a picture.

Again, it’s much more efficient to just remove the headphone this time.

Battery life

Unmatched! If Sennheiser claims 50h of continuous listening on a single charge, with ANC on, a massive number on paper, during my review I was able to outmatch that number – something that usually never happens. On one charge, the Accentum easily reached the 60h mark, and appeared to be one – if not the – most long-playing headphone I ever had the chance to use.

The charge was fast too and  and I was pleasantly surprised by the Accentum time and time.
