Look & Feel And Presentation
The blacked sleeved cable comes in a simple airtight and waterproof plastic bag. It’s very basic and there’s no fancy packaging but it does the job. Being a 4 braid, the cable is very thin and light. There is no splitter at the Y-section and it measures 31 cm after the split. I personally expected to cable to be bigger as in thicker. You will not notice using this cable; it is so light it seems invisible. Comfort wise this one is the best.
No complaints whatsoever. Everything is very well made with a looser type of braiding. A small splitter at the Y-section would have been nice but is not necessary. The heat shrink at the Audez’e and Sennheiser connectors is very well done. There is no brand mention on the Audez’e connector, they look simple but do the job. The Sennheiser plugs are see through and are marked with a red and blue dot. With both cables the white connector is the right channel.
Customization & Options
You can choose the Connector (we chose Audez’e & Sennheiser HD650), Termination Type, Sleeving, Braiding and Color
Our 4 braid black sleeved version with the 1/8 Oyaide and Audez’e termination costs $149.99 or 110€. The Cable with the Sennheiser termination of course cost the same.
LCD-2 and HE-500: Compared to the stock cables you especially get improved clarity with a wider sound stage. There is more detail overall as well with a further extended treble and more bass impact. The Effect Audio cables seem to focus more on vocals and treble and less on midrange body and smoothness.
Sennheiser HD650: Here you get far more clarity than with the stock cable. It really clears this headphone up and gives it good bass. I can fully recommend this cable for those who find it to slow, dark and veiled sounding with the standard cable. This cable will transform your HD650 in a faster and clearer headphone with crystal clear voices and more lively treble than in its stock version.
Effect Audio’s THOR Copper OCC SPC cable is well-made, thin, light and comfortable. The cable surely performs better than it looks. I can live with the basic presentation at this price point. While the cable sounds great on both planar headphones I do prefer using it with the HE-500 as I find it to match the headphone’s characteristics better. A detail king, advised for the treble fans. Focuses on vocals, detail and treble and might be described as slightly more aggressive sounding, but in a good way. In case of the Sennheiser HD650 I would certainly recommend this Thor Cable if you want to clear the HD650 up.
