In this article we give you a fifth update on the status of the 2022 Reader voted best gear polls.

It’s been two months again since we last updated you on our Reader Voted Best Gear polls. The holiday period is now as good as over and a lot of new products have been released on the market. But is the new gear good enough to show up already in your top 3 of best/favorite gear of 2022? Let’s find out. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, check out the page below where we announce and explain the Reader Awards.

The categories this year are the following:

  1. Headphones – Link: Headphones
  2. Universal IEMs -Link: Universal IEMs
  3. Custom IEMs – Link: Custom IEMs
  4. TWS IEM – Link: TWS IEM
  5. Portable Players/DAPs – Link: DAPs/Port. Source
  6. DAC/AMP Combo – Link: DAC/AMP

The Status on August 27 is the following:

Headphones

  1. Meze Audio Elite – 15.77%
  2. Sennheiser HD800 – 10.57%
  3. Hifiman Susvara – 9.01%

The Meze Audio ELITE is still in the lead but where it had 17,47% of the votes last time, it now has dropped to 15.77%. The same story goes for the HD800. It stays in second place but decreased a bit from from 11.26% to 10.57%. Actually we found some cheaters trying to get a Spirit Torino headphone in the top 2, but we saw that on time and removed those entries. Last time the Susvara was in the third spot and it still is. It has 9.01% of the votes, where it before had 9.20%.

It looks like the top 3 spots are finally set, but there’s still 3-4 months to go, so you never know what can change over that time.

Universal IEMs

  1. Sennheiser IE900 – 10.21%
  2. Sony IER-Z1R – 10.20%
  3. ThieAudio Monarch MKII – 9.59%

No changes here in the TOP 3. Sennheiser is still doing well in our lists and the IE 900 – which I absolutely love – still is the number 1 for now. Its lead however is dropping, and where it had 15.95% of the votes 4 months ago, it now has 10.21%. The second spot is still for the Sony IER-Z1R with 10.20% of the votes. Before it had 8.61% so it’s quickly making its way up to the top. Who will win? We’ll se…. The third position before was for the Unique Melody MEST II, with 6.62% of the votes but it is has dropped to the 5th place now with 5,73% . The new 3rd place is for the ThieAudio Monarch MKII with with 9.59% of the votes. The Sennheiser IE 600 is now in 4th place with 9.58% of the votes, so anything can still happen here. Nice!

Custom IEMs

  1. 64 Audio A18T – 23%
  2. Vision Ears Elysium – 14%
  3. JH Audio JH13V2 Pro – 8%

The top 3 is the same here as last time! There still a very clear lead for the 64Audio A18t CIEM even if it dropped from 23.94% to 23%. The VE Elysium stays in second place and its vote count has increased from 12.68 to 14%. The third position is still for the JH Audio JH13V2 PRO, though the vote count dropped from 11.27% to 8%.

TWS IEM

  1. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro – 22.78%
  2. Sony WF-1000XM4 – 12.74%
  3. Apple AirPods Pro – 10.81%

Podium changes here! The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are still in the lead with 22.78% (22.34% before). The Apple AirPods Pro are no longer second but they now come in third. The second spot goes to the Sony WF-1000XM4 with 12.74% (up from 12.18%). The AirPods Pro now have 10.81% (13.20% before, so quite a drop). If you don’t agree, start voting!

Portable Players/DAPs

  1. Fiio M17 – 21.27%
  2. AK SP2000 – 11.49%
  3. AK SP2000T – 10.76%

The Fiio M17 powerhouse still is in the number one spot and its lead has dropped only a little bit. It now has 21.27% of votes where it had 23.17% last time. The second spot now is for the Astell&Kern SP2000. Its vote count increased 8.89% to 11.49%. The third spot is also for AK with the newer SP2000T. It holds 10.76% of the vote count, which is just a bit lower than the 12.06% it had in June.

DAC/AMP Combo

  1. RME ADI-2 DAC FS – 13.18%
  2. Chord Electronics Hugo TT2 – 12.5%
  3. Chord Electronics Mojo 2 – 12.16%

The Chord Electronics Hugo TT2 is no longer in the lead and its first spot has been taken over by the RME ADI-2 DAC FS. The n° 1 has 13.18% of the votes now (13.06% before). The TT2 is now in the second spot with 12.5%, coming from 13.06%. Third place is still for the Mojo 2 which saw its part grow from 11.26% to 12.16%.

Why is ThieAudio Monarch MKII also in Custom IEMs poll? There is only universal version. Votes should be merged.
