2023 Reader voted Best Gear polls – Update 2!

In this article we give you a second update on the status of the 2023 Reader voted best gear polls. 

It’s almost been a full trimester since we launched the 2023 Reader Voted Best Gear polls. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, check out the page below where we announce and explain the Reader Awards. Anyway, it’s time for another update. Let’s find out what you so far in 2023 find to be the Best / Your favourite Gear on the market!

The categories this year are the same as last year and they are the following:

1. Headphones – Link: Headphones
2. Universal IEMs -Link: Universal IEMs
3. Custom IEMs – Link: Custom IEMs
4. TWS IEM – Link: TWS IEM
5. Portable Players/DAPs – Link: DAPs/Port. Source
6. DAC/AMP Combo – Link: DAC/AMP

The Status on March 19 is the following:

Headphones

1. Sony MDR-Z1R – 8,79%
2. Sennheiser HD800 – 7,33%
3. Hifiman Susvara – 6,59%

The Sony MDR-Z1R is still in the lead with 8,79% but its lead has drastically decreased from 14,47%. Second place still is for the Sennheiser HD 800, and it has 7,33% of the votes. Earlier it had 9,43% so it’s dropping a little as well. The 3rd spot is still for the Susvara, now with 6,59% of the votes, also a tad lower. No big changes here for now, except that the top 3 is losing ground to the upcoming headphones in the ranking.

Universal IEMs

1. Sennheiser IE900 – 14,29%
2. Sennheiser IE 600 – 9,36%
3. ThieAudio Monarch MKii – 4,57%

There are no changes here and the number 1 position still is for the Sennheiser IE 900. Last year it won with 9,87% of votes, so it’s gained a lot of followers this year. In 2022, the FiiO FH9 and Sony IER-Z1R were in 2nd and 3rd position, but this year we have the Sennheiser IE 600 in second place with 9,36% and the ThieAudio Monarch MKii  in 3rd position with 4,57%.

Custom IEMs

1. 64 Audio A12T – 17,65%
2. 64 Audio A18T – 15,69%
3. JH Audio Sharona – 15,68%

The Previous number 1, the Vision Ears Elysium lost its 1st place and is now in 4th position. The new number one, is the 64 Audio A12t with 17,65% of the votes. Second spot is for the the 64 Audio A18t with 15,69% of the votes (coming from 19,22%). The third place still is for the JH Audio Sharona with 15,68% of the votes.

TWS IEM

1. Apple Airpods Pro 2 – 32,61%
2. Sony WF-1000XM4 – 16,30%
3. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 – 10,87%

We still have the Apple Airpods Pro 2 in first position. With 32,61% its lead dropped from 36,62% but it’s still very comfortably in the lead. The Sony WF-1000XM4 is still in the second spot and its vote count has increased to 16,30% (coming from 12,50%). The 3rd position still is for the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3, with 10,87%. Last year the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro won this category but it’s nowhere to be seen now.

Portable Players/DAPs

1. AK SP3000 – 11,98%
2. Fiio M17 – 11,38%
3. iBAsso DX320 – 7,78%

Last year we had the Fiio M17 winning this category, with the SP2000T and the SP2000 in second and third place. Right now, the AK SP3000 is in the lead with 11,98% of the votes. The FiiO M17 dropped to second place with 11,38% of the votes (coming from 14,95%). The SP2000T has dropped in the ranking and the 3rd spot now is for the awesome iBasso DX320, with 7,78% of the votes.

DAC/AMP Combo

1. Chord Electronics Mojo 2  – 12,92%
2. Chord Electronics Hugo TT2 – 12,44%
3. Dethonray Pegasus SG1 – 8,13%

The Chord Electronics Mojo 2 is in the lead with 12,92% of the votes (before it had 19,53%) and the Hugo TT2 in second place now has 12,44% (before it had 17,97%). Chord Electronics is still doing very well here with the top 2 positions. The third position no longer is for the Questyle M15, but for the Dethonray Pegasus SG1. It has 8,13% of the votes.
