What is the best DAC/AMP Combo?

In this article we update you on the status of our ongoing polls and we find out: “What is the best DAC/AMP combo?”.

We’ve been running our polls for several months now, so before going to the new poll, let’s quickly discuss the status of the previous polls.

The first poll we did was about the best headphone, or at least what our readers feel is the very best headphone on the market.

Best Headphone:

The number one position for the moment is the Sennheiser HD 800 (S) with 17.05% of the votes ! You can find out all about the HD800 S in the article below. It’s a bit of a surprise really as so many don’t like he HD800 (S). I love them however and so I am glad to see many readers feel the same.

The Meze Empyrean is a TOTL headphone that is very easy to like, and it’s completely different from the HD800 (S). For now it’s in second place. In third place we have our readers who feel there is no best headphone. I do understand what they mean, but that of course wasn’t really what we were trying to find out with this poll.

The top 3 best Headphones according to you guys are:

  • Sennheiser HD800 (S): 17.44%
  • Meze Audio Empyrean: 7.70%
  • There is no best headphone: 7.69%

The second poll we launched is about the Best IEMS on the market.

Best IEM:

For now the leader in the race is the Vision Ears Elysium with 16,04% of the votes! You can find out all about the Elysium here:

The number two and three in the vote are for the Sony IER-Z1R and the InEar Pro Mission X. Quite a surprise if you ask me!

The top 3 answers:

  • Vision Ears Elysium: 16.04%
  • Sony IER-Z1R: 12.92%
  • InEar Pro Mission X: 9.35%

The third poll we published was about the best portable source.

Best Portable Source / DAP:

For now the number 1 is the Astell&Kern SP2000 with 17.19% of the votes. It’s no surprise to me as the SP2000 is an incredible DAP. That being said the Luxury & Precision P6 Pro is a very close contender. You can find out all about the SP2000 here:

In second place we see the Sony NW-WM1Z, and that’s really no surprise as a lot of people like it, and rightfully so. What surprises me more it so see the iBasso DX160 on the third step, I did not see that coming..

The top 3:

  • Astell&Kern SP2000: 17.19%
  • Sony NW-WM1Z: 9.77%
  • iBasso DX160: 8.01%

The last poll we did was about the best TWS IEM.

Best TWS IEM:

For now the gold medal is going to the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 with 25.52% of the votes. That’s huge but then again, it indeed is very good. You can find out all about the Sennheiser here.

In second place we find the Sony WF-1000XM3 and the Lypertek TEVI is taking home the bronze medal for now.

The top 3 answers are:

  • Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: 25.52%
  • Sony WF-1000XM3: 14.18%
  • Lypertek Tevi: 9.54%
